Max is all set to launch its new Pittsburgh-based series, THE PITT, in January, adding a dash of medical drama to the streaming realm. According to TribLIVE, this is an audacious move because the 15-episode series will premiere even if it isn’t finished until February. With its deceptively simple depiction of medical workers coping with the daily pressures of emergency medicine, “The PITT” joins the ranks of medical dramas. The main character, Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, is played by Noah Wyle, who fans may recognize from “ER,” and he leads a group of medical students and interns. According to a recent announcement by Audacy, it aims to entertain and genuinely tackle the difficulties faced by healthcare personnel, echoing its ER roots.
Notably, two Pittsburgh-based medical dramas are debuting in the same month, which is a coincidence. CBS is preparing to release Watson to viewers on January 26 while THE PITT will debut on Max. With “The PITT” being filmed in Burbank and Watson in Vancouver, there is an expected regional variance in the backdrops despite the shared setting.
