After a shooting incident in Muskegon last month, two individuals have been charged with Andres Garcia’s murder. In relation to the death of Garcia, 30, open murder charges have been brought against Benjamin Fields, 36, of Muskegon Heights, and Robert Pompey Jr., 44, of Lakewood Club. Fields was arraigned yesterday, while Pompey was arraigned on November 7, according to WOODTV.

Garcia was shot and killed on October 28 at his residence on Sophia Street close to E Apple Avenue. An incident occurred early in the morning, prompting emergency personnel to race to the location in an effort to save Garcia’s life. He was declared dead on the way to the hospital, despite their best attempts. According to a statement released by FOX 17, Pompey and Fields were apprehended by the Muskegon Police Department in response to allegations of gunfire, and they have since been taken into custody and charged.

Although the reason for the shooting has not been disclosed, authorities have stated that it appeared “non-random” (WZZM 13). Both suspects have a history of domestic abuse and assault. Fields’ bond during the proceedings was set at $700,000, while Pompey’s was refused.

Fields’ court date is set for December 3, and Pompey’s hearing was held on Tuesday. The Muskegon Police Department is asking the public for any pertinent information as they continue their investigation. Investigators can receive tips directly or anonymously using Silent Observer.
