A stolen automobile that was being used as a battering ram broke the peace of the predawn hours at Centennial Elementary School in Graham early on Thursday morning, causing havoc. “Deputies arrived at the scene after a 911 call reported two vehicles performing reckless stunts in the school’s parking lot followed by a loud crash,” the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department blog states.
Officials had to piece together witness testimonies from the incident, which happened at approximately 4:58 am. One of them claimed to have seen the automobile crash through Centennial Elementary’s front doors before two or three people fled the scene and took cover in another white sedan. It was established that the abandoned car, which was still running, had been stolen overnight from a home in Spanaway.
The sheriff’s claim that the perpetrators seemed to be “young adults or teens,” who did not stay to loot the establishment but instead hurried out after carrying out the crime, was supported by surveillance footage found at the scene. The car has been seized after being removed from the structure.
The Sheriff’s Department encourages anyone with knowledge about this bold act to come forward; residents are encouraged to get in touch with them directly or, if they would rather keep their information private, to provide it through Crime Stoppers’ website or app.
