JX Advanced Metals USA Unveils New Mesa Manufacturing Center to Boost Semiconductor Production

The new Mesa-based manufacturing facility opened by JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc., formerly known as JX Nippon Mining & Metals USA, Inc., is a significant step in enhancing the company’s production capacity to meet the demand for sputtering targets in the semiconductor industry in both the United States and Europe. According to the City of Mesa, a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring remarks from JX representatives and Arizona officials marked the formal opening of this 273,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. It is expected that this Mesa plant would expand up its operations for a full production start in early 2025, with its test production currently underway.

According to the City of Mesa, “Todays opening marks an exciting milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc. as we extend our commitment to Mesa and the advanced materials industry,” said Mr. Takeshi Suwabe, the Executive Officer and General Manager of the Thin Film Materials Division of JX Advanced Metals Corporation, during speeches at the celebration.

Mesa Mayor John Giles commended the company for choosing Mesa as their base, highlighting the city’s reputation as a center for innovation and promoting the new facility’s beneficial economic impact. The plant is also renowned for its cutting-edge technology areas and the addition of employee-focused amenities like solar panel covered parking, a workout center, and a garden area. “This facility is a testament to our renewed focus on bringing high-value manufacturing jobs to the Mesa Gateway Area,” said Mesa Councilmember Scott Somers, according to the City of Mesa.

“We are excited to celebrate this milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA in Arizona,” said Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), which also praised the opening. Mesa was chosen as the strategic location for JX Advanced Metals Corporation’s activities because of the state’s favorable economic climate, highly skilled workforce, and infrastructure that is ideal for semiconductors.
