New York’s Staten Island. According to officials, a Staten Island gang member who was charged with pressuring a 14-year-old girl into engaging in sex labor entered a guilty plea last week to coercing and enticing a minor and possessing a pistol as a felon.
According to federal prosecutors, Crips member Justin Dixon entered the plea Friday when he appeared before US District Judge William F. Kuntz II in federal court in Brooklyn.
He will receive a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in jail and a maximum sentence of life in prison in exchange.
James E. Dennehy, assistant director-in-charge of the FBI New York Field Office; NYPD Interim Commissioner Thomas G. Donlon; and Breon Peace, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, jointly released a statement announcing the plea.
Authorities claim that Dixon, 33, used violence and threats of violence to coerce the women and the youngster into prostitution in Brooklyn and on Staten Island.
According to court documents, he groomed and coerced potential victims into becoming prostitutes by using social media and other online tools.
According to the police, the 14-year-old was made to reside with Dixon and other women in a house on Richmond Hill Road in New Springville.
Prosecutors claim that he demanded that Jane Doe and the other women bathe him, cook for him, and clean the house.
According to officials, Dixon would physically punish the ladies for breaking any of these regulations and would not permit them to wear clothing inside the residence.
The joint release claims that Dixon called Jane Doe Tiny and advised her to consume more food to appear older than her actual age of 14.
According to the prosecution, the defendant also informed the girl that he was planning a trip to Florida for her to undergo breast implants and other plastic surgery to make her look older.
Law enforcement officials carried out a search warrant in January 2023 as part of the investigation and found a defaced Ruger LCP.380-caliber handgun inside a car Dixon used to drive Jane Doe and other women to the Blade, also known as the Penn Track, close to Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn, where he coerced them into becoming prostitutes.
Dixon allegedly insisted on receiving the money from their sex work. According to authorities, any opposition from the victims was met with violence.
Dixon displayed unlawful firearms in front of Jane Doe and other victims before being taken into custody.
According to Peace, the defendant’s guilty plea today adds directing the prostitution of a juvenile and possessing a handgun as felons to his criminal past. He will be held accountable for his disregard for the law. My agency and our law enforcement allies will hold predators like the defendant accountable for their vicious abuse of women and children at the Penn Track, which is a disgrace to our district.
The prosecution was a component of Project Safe Childhood, a national effort spearheaded by the Department of Justice to address the widespread problem of child sexual exploitation and abuse, the joint announcement stated.
