The normal calm of Pittsburgh’s Strip District was broken by early morning violence when police were called to a shooting inside a Penn Avenue business. Officers from Zone 2 were sent to the 1100 block at 2:15 a.m. after receiving reports of a man brandishing a gun, according to a news release issued by the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.
According to preliminary information, the individual was threatening people before the altercation turned violent. When police arrived, they discovered a male adult victim who had been shot many times. After being taken to a neighboring hospital, the victim had surgery and was listed as critically ill at the time of the report. At the same time, a male adult suspect was arrested on the spot due to a medical emergency and taken to the hospital while awaiting his transfer to the Allegheny County Jail.
