According to KOIN, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office is stepping up their search for a third person connected to a string of armed robberies in the Clark County region. This follows an incident in November where a seller was robbed and brutally attacked during what should have been a routine cell phone purchase.
The victim was pistol-whipped and had his personal items, including a cell phone, removed by force, according to a statement that KPTV was able to get. After the victim made plans to meet with an internet buyer, the police were notified of the heist just before 5:30 p.m. on November 6. Detectives believe this group has done other similar robberies in the last month and have discovered the suspect’s pattern of enticing victims through online marketplace chats before robbing them in person.
Two people have been arrested in relation to the robberies thus far. The hunt is still ongoing for the third suspect, who is 5’10” to 6’2″ tall, has a heavy frame, and is described by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office as a Hispanic or Pacific Islander male with long hair in a ponytail. According to KATU, he was last saw sporting a light-colored Champion hooded sweatshirt.
The Sheriff’s Office has been working closely with other law enforcement agencies to gather evidence and press charges as part of the continuing investigation. Information on the crimes’ potential link to other incidents in the area is currently being investigated. People in the community are being asked to be cautious when doing business with strangers and to report any suspicious activity that can help apprehend the remaining fugitive.
