Jacksonville’s annual Jacksonville Light Boat Parade is back, and the city is getting ready for the holiday season. As per an announcement on the city’sofficial website, the event is set to illuminate the St. Johns River next Saturday, at 6:30 p.m., transforming the waterway into a glittering spectacle with an array of decorated boats.

“Jacksonville thrives when we come together as one community,” said Mayor Donna Deegan, who was excited about the celebration and emphasized that the Light Boat Parade is “a celebration of unity and connection” in addition to being a time for celebration. Visitors are invited to “create memories that will last a lifetime.” According to statements on the city’s news release, attendees can also take advantage of new Southbank activities this year, such as Friendships Fountain, which promises an improved experience.

Beginning at the Shipyards, the procession will proceed along the Northbank before turning south shortly before the Acosta Bridge and then eastward along the Southbank. The flotilla is open for public viewing from the Southbank, where Friendship Fountain provides a range of entertainment options and attractions.

To make sure that everyone in the community can conveniently enjoy the event, accessible parking alternatives are available. In addition to free parking meters downtown, the city is offering free public parking at the DCPS Building and the Kings Avenue Parking Garage. For those requiring it, ADA-accessible parking will be available near Friendship Fountain. The fireworks display, which includes the popular “waterfalls” effect, is set to conclude the event, as has been detailed in the city’sofficial announcement.
