After a string of suspected sex crimes against a juvenile, a guy from Desert Hot Springs has been placed under police custody. According to the SBSD Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Department, 31-year-old Dakota Lessnau is facing a long list of criminal allegations, including burglary, oral copulation of a minor, transmitting obscene material to a youngster, manufacturing child pornography, and unlawful intercourse with a minor.
On October 20, the investigation was started by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, operating out of the Morongo Basin Station. According to a public statement from the Sheriff’s Department, deputies began their investigation after learning of claims of illegal sexual contact with a kid in the Yucca Valley region. Lessnau was swiftly identified as the suspect by the inquiry, and several warrants, including one for his arrest, were authorized.
On the morning of November 20, police officers carried out the search warrant at Lessnau’s home, which was situated in the 12800 block of Calle Amapola. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the search of the property turned up illegal substances, a rifle with a silencer and an extended magazine, and what is thought to be evidence of the sex crimes in issue. Detectives in Palm Springs then found and detained Lessnau, who was not present during the raid.
Lessnau was taken to the Morongo Basin Jail after being arrested, where he is being detained without the prospect of release on bond.
