Salem Man Charged with Homicide in Fatal Andover Crash That Killed Lawrence Mother

After being arraigned on charges related to a crash that killed 38-year-old Christina Solivan, a mother of three from Lawrence, Marvin Santos of Salem, New Hampshire, appeared before a judge in the Lawrence District Court.Early on November 16, the Santos Jaguar and Solivan’s Trailblazer collided on Route 93, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Officer.

Authorities say the crash happened at approximately 3:43 a.m. south of Route 495 in Andover, leaving Solivan critically injured until she passed away from her wounds after being transported by MedFlight to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Santos was taken to Lawrence General Hospital for treatment following the accident because his injuries were not life-threatening.

Following the tragic incident, Santos was charged with a number of serious offenses, including homicide by negligent motor vehicle operation while under the influence of alcohol, which is a felony; a second offense of operating under the influence, which is a misdemeanor; and two civil motor vehicle infractions. The Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker provided all the details on Santos’ extradition and the charges.

Santos entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment. “The Hon. Sarah Kennedy set bail at $5,000,” according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. Santos, who is involved in the legal processes, is expected to appear in court again on January 7, 2025, for a hearing on probable cause. Since everyone is presumed innocent unless proven guilty, justice moves slowly.
