A 52-year-old man was tragically hit and murdered by an automobile on a street in South Salt Lake. Detective Ryan Alvarez of the South Salt Lake Police Department gave information that led KSL TV to report that the collision occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday near 3116 S. State Street.
The man was taken to the hospital by emergency services right away, but he was unable to recover from his wounds. According to FOX 13, the 43-year-old lady who was driving the vehicle remained at the site and cooperated extensively with the responding police, helping to further the ongoing investigation. While the inquiry is ongoing, the circumstances of this collision has not yet promptly revealed all pertinent information to the public and the family of the deceased guy.
Southbound traffic was impacted by the closure of a portion of State Street after the collision. As reported by KUTV, Alvarez stated that “Southbound State Street will be shut down in the area until at least midnight,” This closure was most likely made to enable investigators to thoroughly inspect the accident scene, identifying any relevant evidence, including skid marks and vehicle debris.
The identities of the two individuals involved in the accident have not yet been made public by the authorities. The public is requested if they have any information that could help the police piece together the final seconds before the deadly incident as the investigation moves forward to completely collect all the facts leading up to the disaster.
