Elderly Man Fatally Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on BQE Near Kosciuszko Bridge, Child Among 7 Hospitalized

Yesterday morning, a sad multi-vehicle crash near the Kosciuszko Bridge on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway killed an elderly man and injured seven others, including a 9-year-old girl who is currently in stable condition. Just before 11 a.m., three cars were engaged in the collision, according to News 12 Brooklyn. The badly injured 9-year-old kid and the 75-year-old father, who was subsequently declared dead at the hospital, were both in one of the automobiles that was overturned on its side.

According to additional information gathered by The New York Post, a pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old collided with another vehicle, forcing it to topple over. Two additional cars got caught up in the collision while traveling through the rain. The video on Citizen shows one of the vehicles involved, together with the damaged pickup truck and a stalled green cab, falling on its side against a highway barrier.

Everyone who was hurt was sent to Elmhurst Hospital Center. The young girl, whose precise link to the deceased has not been revealed, was classified in stable condition while the elderly guy passed away from his wounds. There is yet another person in critical condition. Despite the haste to save the injured, first responders were troubled by the fatalities in the back of a taxi and wondered what connections, if any, held the injured girl to the city road where fate had brought them.

After the crash, the westbound Kosciuszko Bridge was temporarily closed; it has now reopened, albeit with anticipated delays. Although the cause of the collision is still being investigated, drivers who were questioned showed little surprise at what happened, indicating growing worries about the BQE’s safety conditions.
