An honor that highlights the City of Colorado Springs’ dedication to veterans and military families is the Bronze Military Friendly Employer certification for 2025. This recognition follows a thorough evaluation that included survey results and public data analysis, in which the city stood out from more than 1,200 applicants for the Military Friendly survey.
The City’s ongoing efforts to assist veterans are reflected in the Military Friendly Employers certification, which was determined by a thorough and in-depth assessment of the participating institutions. With almost 20% of its workforce being veterans, the City of Colorado Springs works to improve employment opportunities and the entire region. To improve best employment practices for military families, it actively participates in the Employer Roundtable with key partners like Colorado Springs Utilities, Deloitte, USAA, and UCHealth.
The City’s partnership with these organizations also reaches out to nearby installations, such as the U.S. Air Force Academy, Fort Carson Army Post, Peterson and Schriever Space Force Stations, and Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station. Together, they develop plans to solve military spouse employment concerns, provide access to resources and employment opportunities, and create legislative initiatives.
Additionally, the City of Colorado Springs continues to participate in initiatives like as the Veteran’s Local Government Management Fellowship (VLGMF), which provides spouses with 6–8 weeks of fellowship and transitioning veterans with up to 16 weeks. According to the City of Colorado Springs, Sallie Clark, Senior Advisor for Government & Military Engagement in the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs, expressed her pride in the City’s efforts, which include joint job fairs and employment functions in the office. “We are proud of the City once again earning the designation as a Military Friendly Employer,” Clark said.
This project is heavily influenced by the process and standards employed to determine the Military Friendly designation, as outlined by VIQTORY with assistance from the Military Friendly Advisory Council. An organization’s poll score was combined with its ability to achieve standards in a number of areas, such as hiring, retaining, and advancing veterans and military affiliates in the workplace, as a result of their independent experience in the military recruitment field.
