Teen Charged Again for Threats Leading to Chartiers Valley School District Shutdown

After allegedly threatening the Chartiers Valley School District, which resulted in the suspension of in-person education, a 17-year-old teenager is now facing additional charges. Allegheny County Police were called to look into a threatening handwritten message, which prompted the switch to online instruction for the staff and children’ safety, according to WPXI.

The teenager, who had been charged with terroristic threats on November 11 for another incident involving the same district, was identified as the suspect after a thorough investigation. According to reports, the Parkway West Career and Technology Center was threatened during the initial round of interruptions, which led to the cancellation of after-school programs and the implementation of online courses. After the police filed charges with the district attorney’s office, the young suspect was taken into custody on Friday night.

The circumstances surrounding the finding of the alarming memo were not disclosed by district officials. On the other hand, parents and kids were notified on the Chartiers Valley School District website about the change to remote learning and the cancelation of Friday’s after-school activities. According to TribLIVE, following the original incident, Interim Superintendent Joseph Dimperio described the suspect as a student in crisis but could not disclose any identity.
