Gallatin Police Detain Five in Connection to Gang and Drug Charges Amid Efforts to Quell Local Violence

The Gallatin Police Department’s early-morning raids resulted in the arrest of five people on drug and gang-related charges, raising awareness of the small Tennessee city’s fight against drugs and violence. Four adults and one kid were taken into custody after police carried out search warrants at two different residences, one on the 700 block of Demoss Street and the other on the 310 block of Hancock Street, according to WSMV.

Ajhenjuan Murehead, also known as Ajhenjuan Parker, was among those detained. He was charged with a number of offenses, including felony in possession of a firearm and possession of Schedule II for resale. Antonio Walker Jr., who “has been directly linked to a shooting that occurred earlier this week in Gallatin,” according to FOX 17, and Charles Fitts, who was arrested on narcotics and weapons charges, were also taken into custody. David Duncan, who is still at large with outstanding arrest warrants, is sought by the department.

Captain Lamar Ballard stressed the larger context, stating, “These arrests are the result of dedicated investigative work and highlight the connection between gang activity, drug trafficking, and violence in our community,” although not all of the people detained have any connection to recent shootings, according to Main Street Media. As the investigation continues, Ballard said, the police department is dedicated to “dismantling these networks and ensuring the safety of our residents.”

In order to strengthen community safety and dismantle the networks behind these criminal operations, GPD continues to ask anyone with pertinent information to come forward and call them at 615-452-1313.
