Downtown Mesa Lights Up with Mayor Giles’ Holiday Variety Show at Mesa Arts Center

The “It’s Always Cool in Mesa” podcast and Mayor John Giles are collaborating to create a holiday variety performance that will be a delightful surprise for the people of downtown Mesa. There will be two performances at the Mesa Arts Center on November 29 at 4 and 7:30 p.m., including a live presentation of “The Man Who Killed Santa Claus.” According to information provided by the City of Mesa, special guest Emma Nissen is a well-known singer and composer.

Downtown is made even more sparkling by festive Main Street festivities. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at mesaartscenter.com or at the Mesa Arts Center box office (480-644-6500). “The holiday season in Mesa is something I look forward to each year, and I love that this evening of great music, storytelling, and entertainment has become a tradition for everyone to enjoy,” Giles told the City of Mesa of his excitement for the occasion.

Attendees of the Nov. 29 performance are invited to join in the joyous atmosphere that goes beyond the stage, in addition to being engrossed in music and stories. Before or after receiving their fill of holiday cheer, attendees are encouraged to support downtown restaurants and take part in the Merry Main Street tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. According to the City of Mesa, ice skating is one of the many activities that prolong the mood of the season and provide entertainment for both locals and tourists over the Christmas season.

The largest arts center in Arizona, Mesa Arts Center, is a prime example of accessibility and diversity in the arts. The center offers educational workshops, visual art exhibitions, and dramatic performances in its four theaters, five art galleries, and fourteen studios. With assistance from Valley Rain Construction, it remains a vital component of Mesa’s cultural life.
