Two adults have been detained in Moreno Valley on suspicion of killing a little boy, bringing to light a disturbing case of child abuse. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reports that on the evening of November 21, deputies were first dispatched to the 13000 block of Malibu Court due to worries about the wellbeing of the youngster.
When they arrived, they discovered a 10-year-old boy in critical condition, and paramedics quickly took him to a nearby hospital. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the Special Victims Unit took up the investigation after the deputies’ initial observations raised concerns of abuse and neglect. The Central Homicide Unit became involved as the boy’s condition tragically deteriorated and he was eventually declared dead.
The adopted parents of the child were arrested as a result of the investigation, which has since been a joint effort by the Homicide and Special Victims Units. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the suspects, Alejandra Marin, 51, and Juan Sanchez Moreno, 59, both of Moreno Valley, are now being charged with murder, torture, and child abuse. A case that has surely rocked the town is about to get worse as they are scheduled to be booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
Because of his age and the delicate nature of the situation, the juvenile’s identity has not yet been made public. The investigation is being led by Detectives S. Denham and R. Deanne.
