Los Angeles Assistant Principal David Lane Braff Jr. Accused of Child Molestation, Ventura County DA Reports

According to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, David Lane Braff Jr., an assistant principal at Ingenium Charter Middle School in Los Angeles, was taken into custody this morning on several charges of suspected child molestation. Braff, 42, is charged with 17 felonies related to indecent behavior involving a minor. On Monday, November 25, he will be arraigned in Ventura County Superior Court’s courtroom 13. The press statement issued by the District Attorney’s Office of Ventura Countymakes specific claims that Braff violated the trust that came with his position by committing crimes that involved numerous victims and extensive planning.

The press release claims that these instances, which reportedly targeted youngsters aged six to ten, occurred between 2015 and 2019 when Braff was employed as a school counselor at McKevett Elementary School in Santa Paula. “The defendant is alleged to have molested multiple elementary school children over a number of years, shattering the trust placed in him by parents, educators, and the public,” said District Attorney Erik Nasarenko in the press release. There are presently ongoing efforts to steadfastly prosecute and encourage others to come forward with information.

Although Braff’s job history is currently unknown, authorities think he may have worked at other Southern California schools and may have had involvement with youth organizations. According to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, he is still being held at the Ventura County Jail after his bond was set at $3 million. Regardless of whether the behavior took place inside or outside of Ventura County, anybody who thinks they may have been a victim of Braff or who has seen any suspicious activity is encouraged to call Ventura County District Attorney Investigator Greg Webb at (805) 477-1627.
