Yesterday, the CHP Oakland area officers were involved in a pursuit that led to the seizure of a loaded pistol and the arrest of a subject. The pursuit started when police tried to stop a Honda Odyssey on Interstate 580 for driving without taillights, according to a social media post from CHP Oakland.
After initially being cooperative, the car stopped and then quickly left the area, sparking a chase that was assisted by CHP air support. A loaded Glock handgun was tossed from the passenger side of the escaping car in a surprising turn of events. This object was later recovered by the authorities.
Both the driver and the passenger chose to continue their getaway on foot once the car’s journey came to a stop close to Seminary Avenue and Monadnock Way. The passenger wasn’t as fortunate and was taken into custody without any problems, but the driver was able to avoid being caught.
The traveler, who is now being held accountable for throwing the gun away, is accused of resisting arrest and committing many firearms infractions. They were booked into Santa Rita Jail, ending their attempt at freedom. Authorities are still looking for the driver, but their location is still unknown.
