According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR), a fire started in several apartments in a Valrico apartment complex late last night. WFLA reports that multiple 911 calls describing intense smoke and flames were received in response to the fire, which started at 209 Monastery Court at approximately 10:47 p.m. Within an hour of their arrival, firefighters had finished putting out the fire, preventing more damage to the nearby apartments.
Surprisingly, despite the severity of the fire, neither the firefighters nor the inhabitants were hurt. According to the Tampa Free Press, HCFR’s quick thinking in putting out the fire was essential to preventing a potentially worsening disaster. The reason is still being looked into.
When Tampa firemen responded to a house fire in the 1600 block of East Idell Street earlier that day, they encountered yet another difficulty. It was reported that a resident might be trapped inside when the emergency call was received at approximately 10:30 a.m. The house was heavily enveloped in smoke and fire when the fire service arrived.
The adult victim, who was brought to a trauma hospital for treatment after being reported in serious condition, was safely evacuated by Tampa Fire Rescue personnel from inside the structure. The team’s ability to put out the fire in less than 20 minutes is evidence of their prompt reaction and effective handling of emergency circumstances. According to ABC Action News, investigative teams from many departments, including Tampa Fire Rescue, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Tampa Police Department, are still working to determine the cause of this fire. No more injuries were reported, and the house had no other occupants.
