The accident happened at Mile Marker 146 on Interstate 10 West, about 5 miles east of Van Horn, according to confirmation from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).According to KTSM, all westbound lanes were temporarily closed as a result of the collision.
KFOX-TV quoted a Texas Department of Public Safety official as saying that the collision happened “Due to backed-up traffic in a construction zone.” The incident began when a truck tractor-semitrailer was in the right lane and was hit from behind by another. The other truck driver was sent to a local hospital for minor injuries and preventive measures, while the first driver reported no injuries.
According to KTSM, the first reports showed severe traffic interruptions, with TxDOT anticipating that it would take two hours to clear the scene. Drivers that were impacted were instructed to get off I-10 at Michigan Flat and proceed west on the service road. All lanes of I-10 West reopened when cleanup work came to an end, and the road’s status was then updated.
