Debris Flow From Retaining Wall Failure Prompts Partial Closure of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Hollywood

On Saturday, a tiny debris flow caused by rainy weather partially blocked Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Hollywood, causing traffic jams. According to CBS News, this regrettable incident happened close to the southbound lanes at around 10:30 a.m. After responding quickly, the Los Angeles Fire Department blocked off the affected area along Kirkwood Drive to keep oncoming drivers safe.

The Los Angeles Fire Department sent out an advisory with more information on the problem. A little amount of rubble spilled onto N Laurel Canyon Road following a retaining wall failure. There were no reported injuries or damaged structures. According to their official statement, southbound traffic on N Laurel Canyon is currently blocked at Kirkwood. After evaluating the situation, the LA Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) will decide whether a complete shutdown is required.

There won’t be any more updates from LAFD as the event has been turned over to LADBS.
