Long Beach Police Search for Suspect in Fatal Shooting of 21-Year-Old Justice Lopez

While officials continue to look for a culprit in a fatal shooting, the Long Beach neighborhood is dealing with the recent death of a young woman. According to CBS News Los Angeles, Justice Lopez, 21, was slain inside her home on the 900 block of Gaviota Avenue on Friday at approximately 11:40 a.m.

According to the LBPD’s official news statement, officers found Lopez with a gunshot wound to the upper body upon arrival. Despite efforts by officers and Long Beach Fire Department staff to save his life, Lopez was declared dead after being taken to a nearby hospital.

The event was probably not a random attack, according to the LBPD. Before police could reach the scene, a male suspect is said to have approached Lopez in her home, fired the deadly shot, and then ran away on foot. Although the cause for the shooting is still being investigated, this series of events suggests a deliberate crime.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they continue to solve this awful mystery. Oscar Valenzuela and Michael Hubbard, the detectives working the investigation, can be contacted at (562) 570-7244. If you would want to remain anonymous, you can also provide tips through “LA Crime Stoppers.”
