(CBS DETROIT)According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a Michigan man passed away on Friday, two weeks after being hurt in a single-vehicle collision in Oakland County.
On November 15, a collision occurred in Independence Township near the intersection of Clarkston and Clintonville roads.
The 51-year-old Independence Township resident was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado when he crossed the middle line, veered off the road, and collided with a tree, according to the sheriff’s office. The man was taken to the hospital after being freed from the truck by the township’s fire department.
According to the sheriff’s office, he passed away at home on November 29.
Investigators found that the man was not wearing a seat belt and suspect that speed had a role in the collision. It is not their opinion that he was drunk.
The sheriff’s office crash reconstruction unit is still investigating the crash.
