(CBS DETROIT)As Michiganders clean up from Friday’s snowstorm, Metro Detroit is expected to see sporadic snow showers and chilly temperatures for the remainder of the weekend.

Wind chills are predicted to be between 10 and 20 degrees through Sunday morning, with a potential increase on Sunday afternoon, according to meteorologist Ahmad Bajjey.

Lake-effect snow appeared in Genesee and Lapeer Counties on Saturday morning, adding up to a half inch of fresh snow in some places, according to the National Weather Service.

Lily Chapman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, warned that up to three feet of snow might fall in some parts of the Upper Peninsula on Sunday night and Monday.

Following Friday’s snowfall, which caused treacherous roads and occasionally whiteout conditions, locals are working to clean up.

Four striking patrol cars are among the approximately 150 crashes that have been reported in Metro Detroit, according to the Michigan State Police. The four collisions did not result in any injuries to officers.

For the past 24 hours, road workers have been laying salt on the roads. Police are requesting that vehicles avoid passing plow trucks while they are plowing and allow them plenty of space.

Due to the snow showers, some freeways were closed Friday afternoon but have since reopened.

Gaylord received 24.8 inches of snow, a record amount. According to the National Weather Service, it was the city’s snowiest calendar day ever, surpassing the previous record of 17 inches set on March 9, 1942.
