Authorities investigate after exotic deer set loose in Monroe County, Michigan

Chicago, Michigan (CBS Detroit) -Many people are saying “Oh, dear!” about a situation in Monroe County.

According to authorities, deer from Lambertville’s Indian Creek Zoo are currently evading capture. According to deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the deer was able to escape because of recent damage to the zoo’s fence. Many people in the region have reacted to the situation.

Among the many local hunters in the area, Richard Rousselo remarked, “We got some real bad guys out there..and it’s a shame,” “It’s unfortunate that someone would do that; they presumably aren’t afraid of people. We were in there last summer feeding them. They will most likely approach someone directly.

Rousselo, who has previously taken his family to the zoo, finds the occurrence strange. He thinks the deer might have remained in the area since he is a hunter.

“They may not go that far because they know their food and habitat is right there,” he stated.

After the fence was opened, more than ten deer are said to have fled. Time is running out because there are hunters in the vicinity, but it is hoped that the animals may be saved and brought back.

“Regular gun season is closed, but late archery season is open all the way until January first,” Rousselo stated.

The unusual deer will immediately stand out and become a target, according to CBS News Detroit. Many have a different overall hue and tint.

“Lot of them are what they called piebald, part white, part brown, different colors to them,” Rousselo said.
