(CBS DETROIT) According to officials, a “sophisticated cybersecurity attack” that targeted bank transactions occurred in November in White Lake Township.
The township claims that the event, which happened on November 21, “resulted in a compromised financial transaction related to a new issue of infrastructure bonds.”
The financial institutions affected by the cyberattack and federal authorities are collaborating with the White Lake Township Police Department.
The township’s new municipal center project has been put on hold in part due to the attack. The township is reviewing its internal systems and procedures.
