CBS Detroit’s Goodland Township, MichiganAccording to authorities, the 30-year-old woman who perished in a pond in Lapeer County was trying to pull the family dog out of the water.

In Goodland Township, the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office reports that on December 11, they received a call regarding a potential drowning on Armstrong Road. In the middle, authorities noticed an ice-covered pond with open water.

When local fire units arrived on the site, they discovered a dog that looked to be dead floating in the water. They recovered the woman’s body and retrieved the dog using a paddle canoe.

After being brought to the hospital, the woman was declared dead.

There is an investigation going on.
