CBS Detroit, Kalamazoo County, Mich.First responders in Kalamazoo County were almost killed Thursday morning after a box truck crashed into several of their vehicles, according to the authorities.
The collision occurred close to Sprinkle Road on eastbound Interstate 94.
The box truck struck three Comstock Fire vehicles and a sheriff’s office cruiser while deputies and Comstock Fire workers were responding to a rollover collision, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders were seen sprinting into a ditch to avoid the collision in dash cam footage.
None of the first responders were hurt, according to officials. Due to minor injuries, the box truck driver was transported to the hospital.
A winter storm on Thursday morning, according to the sheriff’s office, created “hazardous driving conditions across Kalamazoo County, resulting in multiple vehicle accidents and slide-offs, especially on our highways.”
“KCSO would like to remind everyone to slow down during inclement weather and move over for emergency vehicles,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.
