Michigan hires Chip Lindsey as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach

Chip Lindsey, a former assistant coach at North Carolina, has been hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Michigan.

Lindsey was officially brought in by the Wolverines on Friday in an attempt to improve the team’s faltering offense. As the Tar Heels were appointing six-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick as their head coach, Lindsey left UNC. In New England, Belichick is anticipated to bring together a few of his old NFL employees.

Lindsey ended up at Michigan, where coach Sherrone Moore dismissed offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell three days following the team’s regular-season finale of a 13–10 victory against Ohio State. After serving as an offensive analyst during the 2022 season, Campbell was Michigan’s quarterbacks coach when the team won the national championship.

In a statement, Lindsey said, “I am thrilled to be joining Coach Moore’s staff at the University of Michigan.” “Coach Moore has put together an exceptional staff that is in agreement with our goals to support our kids, and we have the same vision for offensive football. I’m excited to guide and support the young men in this program as they accomplish their objectives both on and off the football field. I’m thrilled to be joining the Michigan family, as is my family. “Go Blue!”

Lindsey comes to Ann Arbor with 27 years of collegiate coaching experience. In nine of his twelve seasons as a full-time collegiate coach, he has guided offenses that have averaged at least thirty points per game.

“After spending a considerable amount of time together, I knew that Chip was the right fit to coordinate our offense,” Moore stated in a statement. “We share the same philosophy regarding structure, scheme and player development, and I know his leadership of the offense will place our players in the best position to succeed.”
