Police announced on Wednesday that the guy who is suspected of shooting and killing a woman in Tampa on Tuesday morning has been taken into custody.
First-degree murder charges have been brought against Derrick Dempsey, who is 35 years old, according to a press release issued by the Tampa Police Department.
Following a report of gunshots, law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence located on St. Joseph Street. After searching the area, they discovered the victim, a woman in her mid-30s who had been shot.
She was rushed to the hospital, but she did not survive her injuries and passed away there. Dempsey and the woman were arguing inside a pickup truck, according to witnesses who informed detectives that Dempsey stepped out of the truck and retrieved a gun.

Chief Lee Bercaw of the Tampa Police Department issued a statement in which he said, “This is a tragic loss that no family should have to endure.”
