On Wednesday evening, a horrific head-on collision resulted in the deaths of four people. The Department of Public Safety has disclosed additional information, including the identities of the victims, to the public.
The collision took place on United States Highway 60 approximately six miles west of Panhandle, just before five o’clock in the afternoon.

Daylee Overton, 20, of Panhandle was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion westbound in the inside westbound lane of US 60 when she collided with a 2021 Jeep Compass driven by David Calvert, Jr., 81, of Amarillo. Calvert was traveling east in the inside westbound lane throughout the collision.
According to the preliminary assessment from the Department of Public Safety, the SUV was driving on the wrong side of the road, which resulted in a head-on collision between the two vehicles, which then caught fire.
Following the injuries that Calvert sustained, he was pronounced deceased.
Among the people who were pronounced dead were Overton, a passenger named Emma Carroll, who was 19 years old and from Sublette, Kansas, and a guy who was 17 years old.
According to the inquiry, the crash is still ongoing.
