There will be no clouds in the sky tonight. Temperatures will drop to the lower to middle 30s, creating a more chilly environment.
Temperatures in Central Alabama will drop during the day on Friday as a result of a strengthened dry cold front that will move throughout the state of Alabama. It is expected to be windy, but there will be lots of sunshine. Winds will gust to speeds of more than 25 miles per hour.
However, the gusts will make it feel like it is in the 40s, even though the high temperatures will be in the lower 50s. Be sure to bundle up!
This weekend, the Southeast United States will continue to experience a blast of even cooler air due to the ongoing cold weather. Due to the development of high pressure in the Deep South, Saturday will be bright and breezy.
Temperatures will drop into the 20s and the morning will be clear and chilly. In the upper teens to lower 20s, the wind chill will be present.
The arrival of the chilly air is perfectly timed, as the first day of winter is on a Saturday at 3:21 AM. For the afternoon, the high temperatures will be in the middle to upper 40s, but the wind will make it feel like it is in the 30s.
Temperatures will drop to the low to middle 20s on Saturday night, and the sky will be clear and frigid. With highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s, Sunday will continue to be sunny but slightly cool.
A bright and milder Monday with highs in the 50s is what we can expect for the week of Christmas. A few clouds may appear on Christmas Eve, and temperatures will rise to near 60 degrees.
On Christmas Day, an upper-level front will travel across the state of Alabama. This will cause sporadic showers to begin developing in the morning and continue to do so throughout the day. With highs in the 60s, the weather will be moderate.
Thursday is expected to continue the pattern of moderate weather, with highs in the 60s and peaks of sun on the horizon. A cold front is moving toward Alabama, which will result in rain at the end of the day on Friday.
The lows remain in the 60s. During the weekend, the cold front will move through, bringing with it a scattering of storms, some of which may be severe or extreme.
