Tragic Accident in Wrightstown Township 29-year-old Dies in Fiery Crash on Swamp Road

A violent collision involving a single vehicle took the life of a woman who was 29 years old on Thursday in Wrightstown Township.

According to the Newtown Township Police Department, the accident took place in the 600 block of Swamp Road shortly after 9 p.m.

The accident occurred when a 1995 Jeep Cherokee heading westbound veered off the roadway, collided with a tree, and then caught fire shortly after.

Lingohocken Fire Company and Northampton Township Fire Department firefighters arrived at the scene and immediately got to work. They worked to rescue the driver, who was still trapped in the driver’s seat and put out the fire. They also worked to extinguish the fire.

The Newtown Ambulance Squad took the driver, who had sustained significant burns, to St. Mary Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead after being transferred there. Notifications were sent out to families by law enforcement officials.

To ensure that the vehicle was removed and that the situation was thoroughly examined, Swamp Road, which is located between Route 232 and Worthington Mill Road, was closed for an extended amount of time.

Currently, the investigation into what caused the crash is still ongoing.
