Two Dead in Separate Louisiana Crashes; Police Investigate Role of Restraint Use and Illegal Substances

A 33-year-old male from St. Martinville has been charged in connection with a deadly crash that killed a 38-year-old lady from Temple, Texas. The event took place on December 26, 2024, and featured illegal substances, according to Louisiana State Police.

Brandon Adams, age 33, was detained after toxicology tests confirmed the presence of illegal substances in his system at the time of the crash, according to the Louisiana State Police. He was put into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on several offenses, including vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injury, and driving while his license was suspended.

The collision occurred on October 28, 2024, when a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz was heading west on Interstate 10. The automobile collided with the rear of an unknown commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and then went off the road.

Ashley Campbell, 38, a passenger in the Hyundai who was unrestrained, suffered devastating injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the Hyundai and a juvenile passenger, whose restraint use is being investigated, were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Troopers are looking for information regarding the CMV, which most likely has rear damage, and ask anyone with information to call Troop I.
