One Critically Injured in Head-on Collision in Lake in the Hills, Three Others Hospitalized

DDN – One individual was critically injured and flown to the hospital following a head-on collision in Lake in the Hills Saturday afternoon, which also left three others hospitalized.

Around 2:29 p.m. Saturday, the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to Algonquin Road and Lakewood Road in Lake in the Hills for a vehicle crash complaint.

Firefighters arrived to find a two-vehicle, head-on collision with significant front-end damage to both vehicles, according to fire officials.

The event was updated to include more ambulances on the spot. Paramedics took four persons to the hospital for treatment.

According to fire officials, one of the victims sustained critical injuries and was transferred to the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, where a LifeNet medical helicopter landed.

The aircraft transported the person to Advocate Condell Medical facility in Libertyville, a Level 1 trauma facility.

Firefighters remained on the scene for about an hour to oversee patient care and help with the crash cleanup.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
