Up to 9 Inches of Snow Expected Across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, Travel Disruptions Likely

DDN – Residents in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia are bracing for severe snowfall, as a winter storm warning is in effect until Tuesday morning.

Parts of the region may receive up to 9 inches of snow, with hazardous travel conditions forecast throughout the storm’s duration.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh, Preston and Tucker counties in West Virginia are expected to receive the most snowfall, accompanied by a little layer of ice.

Wind gusts of up to 40 mph are expected to decrease visibility to less than a quarter mile in some areas. Other counties, such as Westmoreland in Pennsylvania and Guernsey in Ohio, could experience snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches by Monday evening.

Travelers are advised to postpone excursions if possible, as snow-covered and icy roads will make driving exceedingly dangerous. Those who must travel should make sure their cars are winter-ready, drive carefully, and allow additional time to get to their destinations.

The National Weather Service asks individuals to record snow and ice accumulations on social media to assist track the storm’s impact. Snowfall is forecast to stop by early Tuesday morning, but there will be long-term delays.
