DDN – The Texas Department of Public Safety has revealed the names of the people killed and injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident in South Lubbock County on Saturday night.
DPS identified the dead as Fabian Vitolas, 36, of New Home. Vitolas’ passenger, 22-year-old Christopher Dunn of Carlsbad, New Mexico, was taken to the University Medical Center (UMC) with severe injuries.
The other motorist, Lubbock resident Amanda Rodriguez, 40, was also brought to UMC for minor injuries.
Lubbock County, Texas – On Saturday night, a two-vehicle traffic mishap in south Lubbock County killed one person and injured two others.
The fatal collision occurred at 9:35 p.m. on January 4 on U.S. Highway 87 near County Road 7150, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to DPS, a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche was headed westbound on CR 7150 when it ran a stop sign at the junction with U.S. 87 and collided with a 2017 Dodge Durango heading north on U.S. 87.
According to DPS, the Durango collided with the Avalanche’s driver’s side.
The driver of the Avalanche was pronounced deceased on the scene. His passenger was taken to the University Medical Center (UMC) with critical injuries. The passenger wore a seatbelt.
The Durango driver was wearing a seatbelt when the collision occurred. She was also sent to UMC for minor injuries.
The accident is still under investigation.
