DDN – After being struck by a car on campus on Wednesday morning, a student from the University of Michigan is currently healing from their injuries.
According to the Ann Arbor Police Department, the incident took place on University Avenue close to Thayer Street, close to the Thayer Academic Building, just before 11:30 a.m.
Police officers from Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan, as well as fire and emergency medical services crews from Ann Arbor, went to the scene where a 24-year-old individual had been struck at a crosswalk located in the middle of the block.
During the time of the collision, the driver, a woman from Ypsilanti who was 72 years old, was traveling west on N. University University.
At the time that first responders arrived, the student, whose name has not been made public, was unconscious. He was transported to the hospital, where he was classified as being in a critical but stable condition.
According to the authorities, the driver had stopped at the scene and was cooperating with them.
There does not appear to be any evidence of dangerous driving or speeding, according to the authorities. The question of whether or not alcohol or drugs played a factor in the collision is currently being investigated by the authorities.
