DDN: Following the winter storm that hit the CSRA on Friday, thousands of people in the Augusta area lost power early Saturday morning.
Early Saturday morning, Georgia Power said that about 60 outages in the Augusta, Waynesboro, and Thomson areas affected about 2,300 people.
Around 9:30 a.m., Georgia Power had turned on the power to more than 300 people again. Dominion Energy had earlier reported an outage in Aiken, South Carolina, with about 19 people without power.
However, by 9:45 a.m., the websites of those 19 customers had their power back on.
At 7 a.m. Saturday, the winter storm warning for north Georgia, downtown Atlanta, and parts of central Georgia was supposed to end.
The Georgia Department of Transportation said Friday that a state of emergency will stay in place throughout the state until Tuesday.

The National Weather Service said that the clouds would clear all day on Saturday. The high temperature would be 44 degrees, and the low temperature would be 21 degrees in the evening. The weather report for Sunday says it will be sunny with a high of 47.
On Friday, the DOT used snowplows to keep major roads in Augusta clear, like I-20 and I-520. They also sprayed brine on the roads to keep them from freezing, but they told drivers not to drive until the roads were clear.
Friday was a snow day, and schools and most government buildings were closed.

Augusta officials said in a statement made Friday morning that residents are being asked to limit their travel because the roads could be dangerous. “If travel is necessary, please drive with extreme caution.”
The basketball teams at Augusta University can’t play because it’s too cold outside.
The basketball games against rival USC Aiken for men and women have been changed to Sunday, January 12. The games will take place in Aiken’s Convocation Center.
