DDN: In a terrible event that took place on Sunday evening, three people, one of whom was a young girl of four years old, were shot and injured inside a property in the Hegewisch district, which is located in the most southeastern part of the city.
Due to the fact that the shooting took place at approximately 5:25 p.m., the victims were injured, and the authorities are currently attempting to piece together the circumstances surrounding the crime.
Within a single residence situated on the 13400 block of South Carondolet Avenue, the victims were found as they were inside.
Brainard Avenue, which runs diagonally across the block, and freight rail tracks that run parallel to it both provide a distinctive setting for this block.
When many gunshots were fired from the outside of the house by an unknown individual or individuals, the tranquil atmosphere was broken. The bullets penetrated the house and struck those who were inside.
There was a man who was 23 years old and had a gunshot wound to his right flank.
He was one of the casualties. According to reports, he was in critical condition when he arrived at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was taken to the hospital immediately.
Another victim was a woman who was twenty years old and had a gunshot wound to her right shoulder which she sustained. She was said to be in good condition when she arrived at the same hospital where she was transferred.
She was just four years old when she was hit by a gunshot in her right leg, making her the youngest casualty. She was transported to the Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago, where she got medical attention and was said to be in a satisfactory state of health.
Immediately following the incident, a number of law enforcement personnel were observed conducting a comprehensive search of the alley that was situated behind the residence.
As part of their investigation, they focused on locating possible evidence that could provide insight into the identity of the gunman or the motivation for the shooting.
Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with East Side Dollar General Heist
As of late Sunday night, despite their efforts, no suspect had been captured, and there was no identifiable description of the person who had carried out the shooting.
Calumet Area detectives have been given the case, and they are currently conducting an investigation into the incident for which they were given responsibility.
