Multi-vehicle Accident on I-95 Leaves One Dead, Two Injured in Oakland Park

FORT LAUDERDALE (DDN) – One person died in a multi-vehicle accident involving a rollover on I-95 in Oakland Park early Friday morning, according to officials.

The incident occurred in the northbound lanes approximately south of Commercial Boulevard. Initially, four left lanes and the express lanes were restricted to traffic for investigation and vehicle disposal. After 7 a.m., all northbound lanes between Oakland Park Boulevard and Commercial Boulevard were closed.

The lane restrictions caused traffic jams for miles.

The incident was reported by Oakland Park Fire Rescue to have involved six automobiles.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, there appears to have been two separate crashes.

According to reports, one of the individuals involved was speaking with a woman outside the vehicle following the initial incident when a secondary crash happened. The victim, who was struck by one of the automobiles, was transported to Broward Health North, where she died.

Two other people were brought to the hospital.

After nearly five and a half hours, the restricted lanes reopened to traffic.
