Taylor Man Killed in Fatal Crash Involving Jackknifed Semi on I-94 in Jackson County

DDN – A fatal collision that occurred early on Saturday morning in Jackson County resulted in the death of a man from Taylor.

For a jackknifed semi-truck that was involved in a weather-related collision, deputies were dispatched to the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 near Mount Hope Road in Grass Lake Township at approximately 4:45 in the morning, according to Sheriff Gary Schuette.

An accident involving a 2019 Silverado traveling westbound collided with the disabled semi-truck before the arrival of the deputies.

The driver of the Silverado, James Bevins, who was 75 years old and from Taylor, passed away at the scene of the accident. The only person who was there in the vehicle was him.

Even though neither speed nor alcohol is thought to have played a role in the collision, the Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing its investigation into the incident.

Assistance was provided at the location by emergency workers from a variety of authorities.
