DETROIT (DDN) – An officer from the Detroit Police Department was dragged by the suspect’s vehicle on Wednesday night after a traffic stop turned into a violent incident.
According to the report from the Denver Police Department, the officer who had been sitting on the passenger side of the vehicle fired a shot at the subject. It was believed that the suspect had not sustained any injuries; however, the suspect ended up driving away.
In the interest of safety, the law enforcement officer was sent to a hospital in the immediate vicinity.
The information that we have is that at about 8:10 p.m., law enforcement authorities stopped a silver Chevrolet Impala that was parked on the 11200 block of Duprey Street, close to Casino Avenue.
According to the officers, they were able to identify the driver as having a history of drug offenses. He was asked to exit the vehicle, but the driver allegedly refused and rolled up his window instead of complying with the request.
After that, he ran away, dragging the cop who was standing at the passenger door, and it was then that he fired a gunshot in self-defense at the suspect.
At this time, the Detroit police department is searching for the vehicle and the suspect.
