Indiana Braces for Weekend Weather Rain, Snow, Freezing Fog, and Subzero Wind Chills Expected

Indianapolis, IN (DDN) – A mix of rain and snow is forecast in Indiana tonight, causing slick roads on I-70 and other routes. This morning’s freezing fog has already reduced visibility, and colder weather is on the way.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will start late Friday evening and may mix with snow before daylight Saturday.

Temperatures will drop below freezing by early Saturday morning, making untreated roads hazardous. Residents should prepare ahead, drive cautiously, and allow extra time for travel.

Saturday’s forecast calls for sporadic flurries by midday, with temperatures peaking at 37°F and falling to the mid-20s by dusk. Winds could gust up to 23 mph, making the weather much colder. Little to no snow accumulation is forecast, but sloppy patches are possible.

By Sunday, a severe cold front will arrive, bringing subzero wind chills. The high will be only 18°F, with overnight lows dropping to -3°F. On Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, bright skies are expected, but afternoon temperatures will struggle to reach above 10°F.

Travelers should use caution this weekend, particularly in the early morning hours when freezing fog or snow may restrict visibility. Cold-weather precautions, such as layering clothing and having emergency supplies in vehicles, are strongly recommended.
