Deadly Morning in Las Vegas Police Chase Ends in Pedestrian Death and Multiple Crashes

LAS VEGAS(DDN) – A driver is in police custody after evading an officer and hitting and killing a pedestrian on Wednesday morning, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

The collision happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Lamb Boulevard and Stewart Avenue in the northeast valley.

Metro Deputy Chief Branden Clarkson said officers attempted to stop the vehicle at Charleston Boulevard and Lamb, but the driver fled northbound on Lamb at high speed, hitting another vehicle, striking a person on a bicycle, and smashing into a wall.

“By the time the officer caught up to the vehicle the suspect had already crashed into the wall and hit the pedestrian,” Clarkson recounted.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the vehicle that was struck was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

Clarkson stated that the police were pulling over the vehicle for a minor traffic infringement.

The intersection of Lamb and Stewart remained closed as of noon due to the police investigation.
