Tragedy on I-270 Pedestrian Struck and Killed After Multi-vehicle Crash Near Exit 28

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (DDN) – A pedestrian was killed early Monday morning in a three-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 270 near Florissant.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported two crashes at 2 a.m. near Exit 28 at Elizabeth Avenue and Washington Street.

When the first incident happened, there was an abandoned vehicle on the left side of the road, which an alleged drunk driver collided with and flipped.

A passenger in the vehicle exited and was struck and killed by a third vehicle. The driver of the overturned vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

According to an MSHP trooper, the driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the site and is working on investigations.

Much of I-270 EB was shut down before Exit 28, but it reopened at 7 a.m.
