South Carolina (DDN) -On Tuesday, a man from South Carolina was sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in jail for fatally shooting a man from Cohoes in 2023.
Nalik Sealy, 26, has already admitted to being responsible for the death of Shieer Leggett. This started as a result of a brawl that took place on August 11, 2023, outside of a convenience shop on Main Street.
A confrontation had been started between Sealy and Dontie Mitchell. According to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, Sealy’s revolver fired a bullet that hit and killed his companion Leggett during a gunfight.
Last month, Mitchell was found not guilty of attempted murder but was found guilty of possessing weapons.
Sealy was given a sentence of 5 to 15 years for the manslaughter conviction and 12 years for the criminal possession of a weapon charge. The two sentences run consecutively, which means that the maximum amount of time that can be served in jail is 15 years.
