Tragic Incident on I-95 Florida Man Struck and Killed by Truck After Strolling Into Traffic

ST. LUCIE COUNTY(DDN) – On Tuesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol reported responding to a tragic incident on Interstate 95 involving a truck and a person.

The incident occurred in the southbound lanes about 2 miles south of Midway Road, and troopers arrived at 10:21 a.m., according to the agency.

According to FHP Lt. Indiana Miranda, a 1997 Black Freightliner semi was going south in the middle lane of I-95 when, for unknown reasons, a 43-year-old male from Port St. Lucie began strolling from the shoulder into the truck’s path.

The truck’s front right side crashed with the man, who was struck by the bumper. As the truck slowed, the man was thrown to the outside lane.

The man was transferred to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital and pronounced dead.

The truck driver, a 34-year-old Hollywood resident, was not hurt.

There was no more information available on Tuesday.
