SPARKS, Nev. (DDN) – During the bustling Monday morning commute, a key crossing in Sparks was closed due to a fatal accident.
On January 27, shortly after 5 a.m., troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a complaint of a crash involving two cars at the intersection of Pyramid Highway and McCarran Boulevard.
According to witnesses, a Nissan pickup was heading westbound on McCarran Boulevard when it failed to stop at a red light and collided with a Jeep that was traveling southbound on Pyramid Highway.
The driver of the Jeep died at the scene, while the driver of the pickup truck was brought to the hospital with significant injuries.
Troopers believe that the intersection will be closed until around 9:30 in the morning.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is requesting that anybody who may have seen the crash contact them at 775-687-9600.
